12 page editorial in Prestige Magazine Hong Kong

Filed under: General, My Work — SDBlogger @ 8:28 am

Ike and I recently produced a 12 page Marilyn M jewelry advertorial for Presitge Magazine. The idea was to recreate the famous David Kirkland shots of Marilyn rolling around in bed, amoung the most famous shots of her ever. Ike shot and I did the post production which was long and complicated as the wig we used was not the best… hours spent painting in a hairline…
We, I believe, did a pretty good job, but please judge for yourself in this months issue.

When asked what types of photography I do, I used to say everything except Diamonds and Babies… Diamonds pose a challenge that requires lighting skill, patience, and persistence. It also takes the right equipment and a whole lot of retouching…

Welcome to the wonderful world of Diamond Jewellery Photography. Photos by Ike & Sean. Jewellery design by Sally Ryder Diamonds.

New Lights - New Gear!

Filed under: General, My Work — SDBlogger @ 12:24 am

Well after six years and many of thousands of dollars spent at Rent A Pro Limited we finally have our own lights. Yes, I just busted out a considerable sum of money to buy a Bron Elektronik AG - VISATEC
lighting kit. I bought the SOLO 316 kit. It comes with 3x SOLO 1600 which are 600Watt/Second mono lights, reflectors, softbox, barndoors, honeycombs and an umbrella. I also bought the Infared Triger device that attaches to the hotshoe of my camera and fires the lights remotely without a cable. These lights are Swiss made and the intial impression when you take them out the box is the same feel you get the first time you sit in a Mercedes Benz, these babies are a quality product, beautifully finished and they even have that “new car” smell.
Then we also busted out a Manfroto backdrop kit, two stands and a telescoping pole for hanging backdrop paper.
So finally after all these years we are fully kitted out.
I will be taking photos of the new studio all set up and ready to go as soon as I get the rest of the kit tomorrow.
Also for those interested apparently CANON has announced a new mid range digital SLR, this is for the serious ameteur or a full blown professional. Read all about it here Canon EOS 5D, full-frame 12.8 megapixel: Digital Photography Review
