Photography Hong Kong City Skyline at Night

Filed under: General — SDBlogger @ 7:32 pm

We had a couple of clear nights last week, nights when it was not raining, nights when it the air was not polluted, so Ike and I headed out to photograph some cityscapes. Somehow we managed to get over to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) just in time for the nightly Hong Kong Tourism Authority’s Light Show. Basically they have great big spot lights and laser beams on the tops of roughly 30 buildings on the Hong Kong water front. These lights then ‘dance’ and the crowds of tourists gather nightly along the TST waterfront to witness the spectacle. Music is piped out to the crowd along the promenade near the Star Ferry, music that is somewhat muted in its exuberance. Actually it sounds like MUSZAK the stuff your hear in elevators. Obviously the HKTA does not want anyone to get too excited and have a heart attack while watching this nightly exhibition of the crass commercialism of HK. Somehow they get everyone to stare at the tops of all HK buildings for 20 minutes each night. Buildings that have bloody great big ADVERTISING billboards all light up in NEON… Ah Hong Kong the city of Light…
