Nornally people ask what kind of photography I do, I sometimes say “everything, except diamonds and Babys”… But I do make exceptions sometimes. Today was one of those exceptions as I was honored to photograph the new son of my very good friends. He was such a good baby and very happy in front of the camera. The big soft box lights seemed to amuse him…
So from now on when people ask it will be “everything except diamonds”…
Why diamonds… Well we will do diamond jewelry on people, but to do diamond product shots as you see in the likes of DeBeers Ads is a highly specialized field of photography one that I have no inkling to learn…

Just back from a weekend in Beijing visiting with the folks. It was great to see them. We did the usual touristy things, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Great Wall and KFC (where else you gonna eat)
Here are a couple of shots from the Great Wall. It was I must say “great”… but the best part was coming down on the Tabogons… Here is a pic of Mum loving the ride.

Now the weather was quite shit the day we went so we have none of those picture postcard shots to show you. But we did get some nice ‘family’ shots…

Apparently the cult of Mao is still very much alive and strong. Today I witnessed groups of Chinese lining up in front of the giant portrait of Mao that looks over Tian’anmen Square to have their photo taken. So I naturally joined in. One of them even took my photo.
There is just something about this photo that speaks volumes about the history of China.

So here we are in Beijing visiting with the folks. Yesterday I headed out to try get a good shot of the stadium. This is the best I could get. The whole area is still a big construction site and the security guards are not the push overs you find in HK. I could not get access to the site. I took this shot from a traffic fly over bridge from a distance of about 1.5km… I even headed across the road and went into an apartment building up to the top floor to try get access to the roof, but the doors were all locked - no access… Well all I can say is I tried…

I just posted this one for Ju to see. It is pretty. This is a Ruby Chip buddha. Basically it is made up of thousands of Ruby fragments formed together with resin into this work of art. This ruby chip buddha is for sale at Sanscrit on Lyndhurst Terrace.

and just plays around being a very cute puppy.

Somehow we got this one tonight. A passing shot…
