Alshazadi 2…
Today we had the great pleasure to again photograph Al-Shahzadi’s new stock. There were some real magic ones. This being a 747 magic carpet, should be able to hold the whole party…

This is one that I particularly like, however the jpg is doing it no justice…

Close up detail of fine weaving showing intricate design in traditional Islamic style…
If you are looking for a new carpet, may we suggest checking out Al-Shahzadi’s Fine Carpet Shop…

Quantity
Stock photography is very much a numbers game, the more images you have in your library and with the various stock agencies the more chance you have to sell an image. It is a simple formula and as you will only ever sell between 1-5% of your total library, the more images you have the better your chances of a sale. Taking into account that you must adhere to the guidelines of Quality, the more quality images you have the better your chances of a sale.
Making sure your images are technically excellent is the next step to success in Stock photography.

Well that did not take very long at all. Adobe has just released the Beta version of Camera RAW Plug in for Photoshop CS2. So I can now really get stuck into the files from my new camera and see how noisy they really are in low light. I will post a sample here shortly.
This new version of Camera Raw supports
- Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi
- Leica D-LUX3
- Leica Digilux 3
- Nikon D80
- Panasonic DMC-LX2
- Pentax K100D

What a wonderful weekend. Juliana’s first time camping, ever. These are some pictures. I made BBQ, Brasillia style, Picania, ummmmmmmmm, yummy.
Dai Long Wan is Hong Kong’s number one beach attraction. It takes a bit of organizing and a fair effort to get to, taxi to Wong Shek Pier in Sai Kung Country Park, Water Taxi (speed boat) to Ham Tin Village, then a one hour hike over the hill to the beach. Well worth the effort. It is a place friends can go on a weekend to ‘get away from it all’ and still be home in time for dinner Sunday night. Nice…

Introduction to the industry.
Stock photography is a huge industry, one that generates steady incomes for those photographers with the willingness to succeed. As with any worth while undertaking nothing comes easy and nothing comes for free. To succeed in this game you need to be able to; a) take saleable photographs, b) be organized enough to get them to the market. c) be patient and keep adding more images to your library
In the past getting into Stock photography was a huge undertaking. You either had to set up your own mini Agency or sign on with one of the big agencies. If you set up your own agency you were required to do all the leg work of sorting, filing and marketing your images. If you signed on with a big agency you were required to have at least 1,000 images before they would even talk to you. With the advent of the Internet and the growth of high-speed broadband connections these barriers have been eliminated. Today anyone with a quality digital camera can enter the stock photography market place and make money selling their images online.
