When you order Thai food in Thailand you expect it to have some flavour, maybe even a bit spicy. Well how about this, we ordered prawns fried in garlic and pepper & Prawns in Red Curry. When they arrived there was not even the faintest hint of spice, the only thing they did taste of was MSG. We called the waiter over and told him we were not eating this and would they please take it away. Well this does not work in Thailand so we then asked to speak to the manager. After much back and forth, we sent the dishes back to the kitchen for them to redo. Well this was when it got a bit spiteful. The food returned to our table exactly as it had left with the addition of a exorbitant ammount of chili rendering the food totally inedible. With this I called the manager over and explained to him that if we were forced to pay for the food we were not about to eat I would write about it in my blog with the intention of telling as many people to avoid this place. He explained to me that they get many foreigners that complain if the food is spicy. So I asked him, is this Thailand, did we order Thai food? Is it my understanding that if you are in Thailand you have to ask them to make the food spicy? Hum…
So in the end we paid our bill (US$65) left the food untouched on the table and walked out… it was that crap!
So, if you want bland tasteless Thai food that is not cheep, please be sure to eat at the Railay Bay Beach Resort and Spa. If you want good tasty thai food at a reasonable price go to YaYa on Railay East…
However the view is… just as good at the Sand and Sea next door and the food while a little more expensive than Yaya is also very very tasty. Especially the Green Coconut Curry…
