Canon 5D Intitial Impressions

Filed under: General — admin @ 5:10 am

I went down to Kwong Tai Photo on Stanley Street today to see my friend’s new Canon EOS 5D, . Initial impressions – Nice – Very Nice… A little heavier than the 20D but not so much, mind you we had it out of the box sans batterys card and and lens, so yes it is going to weigh slightly heavier than the 20. However, the handfeel and the 5D is nothing like the 20D. The first thing you notice about the 5 is the huge LCD screen on the back, a full 2.5″ across. The next thing you notice is the lack of all the ameteur program modes, the ones with the little icon of the cloud or the running man, none of that, the dial has . P, A, T, & M… It also has a sort of conical type ridges that give the dial a nice grip and feel. Then next thing to notice is the lack of POP -Up fill flash… not so sure this is a good thing, but mind you with the way the one on the 20 works, no one will miss this…
So tomorrow, we actually get to take it out of the box and put it thru its paces… Stay tuned…
Oh by the way … Santa I have been a very good boy…
