Ecovision International Coastal Cleanup - Volunteer Invitation
Saturday October 22nd, 2005
Celebration its’ 20th Anniversary, The International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s oldest and largest volunteer effort to clean up our marine environment. Since 1986, over five million volunteers in 123 countries have cleaned 130,000 miles of shoreline – over five times the circumference of the Earth.
Ecovision is once again joining the Civic Exchange and the Ocean Conservancy in Hong Kong, by holding a beach cleanup in the Sai Kung Country Park.

We will provide….
Refreshments, snacks, gloves, plastic bags (white for recyclables, black for non recyclables), pencils, data cards and cameras
Wear Something….
Sensible…You’ll be cleaning the riverbed, terraces and rocky areas around the beach too. Wear strong, practical footwear
Kodak Competition…
All volunteers will be divided into teams. Each team will be taking part in our Beach Cleanup trash collection and photo competition. Briefing and cameras given to teams upon arrival
Schedule on Saturday, October 22nd…
- 09:30am Those confirmed on Junk meet at the noon day gun in Causeway Bay to board the boat for Tai Long Wan - (optional) or
- 11:30am All to arrive at Tai Long Wan Check-In Station for briefing by Ecovision. Attendees will be split into teams and allocated to clean different areas
- 12:00pm Beach Cleanup
- 15:00pm End of Beach Clean Up, chill out time
- 16:00pm Board junk to return to Central (optional)
- 18:00pm Debark junk
***If you are making your own way to Tai Long Wan***
It takes a full two and half hours to get from central to Tai Long Wan, this includes a scenic one hour hike – so if you intend to meet us there please let us know so we can expect you. Leave Approximately 9:00am from Central (the hike alone makes it worth it)
MTR to Choi Hung, Minibus to Sai Kung, Taxi or bus to Wong Chek Pier. Boat (10min) will take you to Chek King Pier, and you walk up and over the hill to Tai Long Wan.
