This past week we were called upon to produce a shoot for well known Los Angles Hollywood Photographer Kevin Lynch. He was shooting PR material of JET LEE, for the upcoming Mummy3 movie.
From start to finish the whole thing was one big learning experience. Watching this master photographer work was great. Kevin shoots lots of movie posters for Hollywood as well as UFC (Ultimate Fighting Champions). His knowledge of photography, lighting and equipment is amazing. To top it all off, he is also a very nice guy, laid back and willing to share his knowledge of the art.
The production was spread over two days. First day was prelight and second day was shoot day. Kevin’s lighting is top notch and he uses only the best equipment available, most notably the Hasselblad H3D. The detail on this state of the art camera is scary. During the prelight day, I was asked to stand in for one of the shots and this is the result. Even more scary… ha ha…

Boracay beach in the Philippines is such a beautiful beach, really one of the nicest I have ever visited. Thankfully the locals know that the value of their tourism industry relies on them keeping it clean. They also have an active and thriving recycling infrastructure. Alot of the work is done by young kids who scour the beach for plastic bottles, tins and anything else of recyclable value. They play a valuable role in keeping Boracay clean.
Seems whoever is running Boracay knows a thing or two about preserving its natural beauty for future generations.

Boracay is ideal for water sports. The beach has soft white sand and the water is crystal clear and you can walk out a good way before it gets deep, the famous white beach is protected by a reef about 500m offshore, the resulting lagoon is a great place to swim. Shops offering water sport activities such as diving, kayaking, snorkling, fishing, sailing and para sailing, thrive along the beach. Thankfully the jet skis and powerboats are not allowed in the shallow lagoon and are kept out away from the beach so the noise does not disturb sunbathers on the beach.

and this is just a nice shot i got of a kid playing on a swing…

A group effort with all members of the team having input, most notably Kal our studio manager who also doubles as a designer of note…

Kumi the drummer queen of Hong Kong has a new team of full time staff. Drum Jam goes corporate…
We recently shot some new material for them. Kumi is a great inspiring light, and her monthly free drum jams at the Fringe Club in Central are always very popular.
Kumi has been doing corporate team building sessions for a couple of years and they are very well received. Her client list reads a who’s who of HK companies. So next time you are thinking how to inspire and motivate your team to work as one… Think DRUM JAM…

yep i did it, some of my emails will now read “sent with iPhone… why did i wait so long”… and that is really true…
The best thing about the iPhone is the iPhone… so I wont say anything more on that… it just works… very well… ok enough…
A year ago when the iPhone launched in USA there were a few cracked versions floating around HK and these were the kind where someone had opened the back an sodered bits… nah I’ll wait… so i bought the Nokia E61i which is a DINOSAUR as compared to THE IPHONE as are all other phones I have seen recently… buy Apple stock it will be going back up! This is the product we have all been waiting for an all in one communications pod…
One of the reasons I wanted a ‘Smartphone’ was to have my email in my pocket… Important to our business… so the Nokia was ideal, but it required a 3G service package which when all was said and done, cost a bundle $$$…
The iPhone runs mostly on WiFi when you are at home or office and when out and about it runs on EDGE otherwise known in these here parts as GPRS (Group Packet Radio Signal?). Which PCCW does an unlimited plan for HK$128/month. So with that all said and done the iPhone is going to save me a bundle, we always like that
…
EDGE is, somewhat slower than the WiFi, but WiFi is everywhere in HK… the iPhone can be set to constantly scan for open networks… and for those who must have youTube at the beach PCCW does an unlimited WiFi plan for $488/month… not bad as this is basically mobile broadband, much faster than 3G…
(Note: if you are thinking of buying one be aware they are still “Cracked” and if you update the software with iTunes, your iPhone will lock up)…

The iconic sculpture by Robert Indiana is in Exchange Square along with 5 other Art Moderne pieces courtesy Opera Gallery and Hong Kong Land. They will be there til March 30th check it out…

In the rotunda entrance to phase 2 of Wynn Macau’s beautiful new casino is a show piece called Tree of Prosperity, a 24 carat gold leaf covered tree. Quite beautiful and the whole show is somewhat amazing and I recommend to anyone visiting Macau to stop in and check this out. The show runs every 30min and lasts about 5 minutes. The Wynn is very tastefully decorated and a pleasure to explore. The club sandwich at the loby coffee shop however, leaves something to be desired, something not right about the herb butter?
Well that has got to be the quickest QC wait ever, can’t have been more than 10 days, to have our latest 3 images pass into the Alamy library. This is Boracay Beach, one of the best beaches i have ever been to. Pretty well as near to perfect… White Soft sand beach, crystal clear blue water, sunny skies and a cooling breeze… and many tourists, oh many many, especially on Chinese New Year as half of HK was there as well as a good number of Korean and Taiwanese tourists. Thus the signs on coconut tree “Pls. Keep Our Beach Clean”…
After many years of thinking what design i can get to tatoo over my silly ‘frat’ tat, i finally came up with this… A TYPOON SIGNAL symbol… Why a Typhoon Signal, well T8, 2008, I dunno, its better than an Apple Logo…. ha ha…
Yes Chikita has been staying over again and what do you know she has the same winter coat as Daisy. Here they are…

Chihauhaus are the perfect dog to have in a city like Hong Kong. They are easy to care for and are able to entertain themselves.
Daisy plays all day with her toys, Chikita sleeps most of the time, and then takes the occasional lap around the apartment. If you think Daisy looks a bit fat it is cause she is having a false pregnance, poor girl is really &*$&£…

As the stats for this site show, Google accounts for some 70%+ of search traffic. A year ago this number was around 50%… MSN the microsoft search flop is the big loser in this game having dropped from some 15% to about 2%. Yahoo is holding steady in its slow decline into obscurity.
This is excellent. I can’t wait for the 2nd version which will allow you to Slap anyone you want.

Ive been meaning to rebuild our website for quite some time now, we were too busy working all the time. But now it is a little slower, i am playing around with some new design ideas as a rebuild is immanent. Ike asked that I clean it up a bit so what do you think? To see the real page please click the image.
Early one morning I went into town to get some oil for one of the buggys and on my way back I had to stop to shoot these nice scenics.

This one is especially nice, a panorama scene of this winter forest reflected in the lake. The Leica sure does do nice landscape Panoramas, just about all it is good for…

This is a particularly nice shot of Hong Kong’s Central district and the IFC2 Central Plaza and the rest across to Kowloon and Harbour. You will notice that it is 9×16 tall wide format. It was shot on my Panasonic/Leica Lx2. The one with the really noisy sensor. Well as mentioned before if you get the exposure right and have lots of light at 100ISO this thing does take beautiful pics. The Leica as I like to call it (the lens is Leica, the rest is Pan-0-shite) has now had a few images pass into Alamy meaning that it was not a total waste of money after all, especially as I have quite a few other really beautiful Brasillian Panoramas to submit…
And here is another of the shots that just passed Alamy’s QC taken from the Morning Loop overlooking Hong Kong on Victoria Peak. This shot is as common a stock shot as you are gonna get, thus it got marked RF… Bog standard, but nicely done… The Leica does do nice panoramas

I shot Niki Chow for a software interests group ealier this year. Well a few weeks ago I spotted this ad in the MTR. It was on the sides of the escalator so by the time I saw it and pulled out my phone/camera, it had passed. In the last few days they have started to take them down already, but today I saw this one in TST. The Nokia E61i does not take the best pics, but here is also one of the studio shots.
Guess we were stressing it out, cause when Ike was shooting the other day with his trusty Canon 5D, hearing a tremendous “clank”… and the viewfinder went dark. Taking the lens off the body revealed that the mirror had popped off its bracket and was laying lose. Canon Hong Kong have been pretty cool about it and have said we will have it back in 3 days. They had better not charge us. Ike’s 5D was bought with a 2 year warranty, but when i bought mine a year or so later, it has a lifetime warranty. So lets see…
So I just get a SPAM from YahooHK search marketing, now I cannot really call this spam because I did have a meeting with them about 3 years ago as I was interested in having Yahoo ads on my site, instead of Adsense, but they didn’t want me (not enough traffic). Anyways back to the point, they Spammed me in CHINESE. How dumb is that. The only thing I am thinking is that they think I am really really smart and that my 10 years in HK I have learned to read Chinese… I wish!
Yahoo come on… there is a reason your stock is at $25.

am quite keen to get a new bike and have been looking at ads for second hand Mtn. Bikes. You can get pretty good deals if you know what to look for. Well this is a bicycle photo.
