Our good friend Kal, one of Hong Kong’s better young photographers recently rented the studio for a couple of days to shoot some fashion editorial and product shots. Here he is hard at work.

Last month we did a job for the makers of Speedo brand wetsuits. The shoot was for a catalogue/brochure for the new LZ racer suit, the retail version of the Micheal Phelps suit worn during the Olympics Games in Beijing 2008.
I love the lighting on this shot…

We did this beauty and make up shoot with Shirley the model and Michelle the make up artist. These are the results, clean make up product advertising photographs.
So arriving to the ferry pier to go out to the island there is security checkpoint, but the permits are not ready. So we wait and there is alot of palava going on with my assistant and the nice admin lady and the security desk back and forth. Finally seconds before the ferry departs (next ferry 2 hours) we get our permits and rush on board the ferry.
Arriving at the island we are greeted by our official host Mr. Hoi (named changed to protect identity), who guides us to the office block. We sit and wait, because although we made it to the island we are still not in the shipyard… we have to now clear China Customs and Immigration to actually enter the hallowed grounds of the work area. Very tight security.
Finaly after much waiting we are allowed into the ship…
I have always wanted a gas/nitro powered RC Car and today I bought one. Kyosho FW6 -DBR9.
I brought it home and sat watching the Malaysian GP reading the instructions during ad breaks. Its requires the new user to break-in the engine, before we can go racing. Apparently there is an outdoor RC racing track near the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay, not far from here…
Right now the car is sitting waiting for me to go out and buy some batteries. I am not going to start it today as it is Sunday and these cars are noisy, however I may go down to the track to have a chat with the local racers, see what tips they have for the new car owner…
I bought what is known as Ready Set as in Ready Set GO!… all you need to do is buy batteries, fill up the tank, fiddle with a few screws to set the fuel mixture etc and then start it up… I checked the price on EBay and other places in the states and it came in about -US$150
The last the the guy in the shop said to me before I left the store, he said, very very SAFETY SAFETY… this car can reach speed of 40mph and it weighs 2kg… so no running it in the street, well just a little, but only in the eveing when there is no one around…

And then I stripped the stickers from one half of the car, I like it clean… well until I figure out how to make my own decals, then it will become the WHITE BOX PHOTOGRAPHY RACE TEAM
The engine .15 cc Nitro powered…

Amelia Johnson Gallery hosted this event with guest his honorary Australian Consul General to Hong Kong.

Another year has passed and with it comes the annual beer and rugby fest better know as The Hong Kong Rugby 7s.
Every year the South African Association of Hong Kong does a dinner for the SA team. Every year I sponsor the event with my photography services and a portrait packge for the raffle prize.
Every year I also make a gallery of all the photos for the good folk to see. The gallery is here: Hong Kong Rugby 7’s South African Team Dinner
